SEPTEMBER 23- Gernika to Bilbao

A much shorter ride today, only 22 miles. The climb out of Gernika was long but a lovely view at the top. It looks like it is getting to be fall here.  We arrived in Bilbao around 1 p.m. and had to go to a bike shop. Anthony’s bike derailer is not working well and, apparently, cannot be fixed.

Bilbao is a pretty city. Our pension is in the old part of the city close to the cathedral. The restaurant next door was really good and we were happy to have a good salad. Anthony thought it was weird that I would hav3 a hamburger in Spain, but it was delicious!

Nice to have an outside clothesline today. We have been washing clothes in the sink and hanging them in our room. Too bad it was cloudy
