OCTOBER 13 – REST DAY IN LUGO

We were so tired when we got here last night that I didn’t update the blog until this morning so 2 posts today. Make sure you check out our journey to Lugo.

I believe we earned this rest day in Lugo. It was nice to sleep a little later and not have to pack everything up and head out. Even though we wanted to just rest our legs and feet, we walked around and checked out the city. Lugo is like 2 cities with he “old city” being inside the Roman walls, which were built in the 3rd and 4th centuries. We went up stairs to the top and walked around a bit. We also toured the cathedral within the walls which was very interesting. It was started in the 12th century and throughout history has been added onto and changed so it has Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical elements. Very big and very beautiful. We were able to attend Mass last night there and sat in the choir area.  We had a late lunch, a nap, washed clothes and had some great ice cream.  Now we are gearing up for our last 100 km.

Mail slots at the post office
Field trip to the catherdral
Mama bear ice cream and Papa bear ice cream
