OCTOBER 11 – O CADAVO

An amazing sunny beautiful day for a 16.6 mile “walk” to O Cadavo. We started in fog but the sun came out and the vistas were amazing. We hiked over a lot of mountains today. At the top of one was an old pilgrim hospital that dates to the 14th century. This is not the only one along the Camino Primitivo. The steepest climb of the Primitivo was today. We estimate about a 20% incline for about a mile. Following all steep ascents are almost always steep descents. My feet may never recover. We meet so many pilgrims from all over the world and have gotten to know some of them. Tomorrow is about a 20 mile day but we hear the big hills are over. One book says it will be a “ piece of cake” compared to what we have done so far. We will arrive in Lugo and are looking forward to a rest day. Six more walking days to Santiago.  I am having very mixed emotions- excited to finish but also sad that it will come to an end.

On the top of the mountains in the background are some windmills. We passed by theses from way on the other side

  1. I remember people telling us… Tomorrow is a piece of cake compared to today. Ha ha ha it wasn’t.

Buen Camino. Thank you for sharing your travels with us!

Joey and I can’t wait to go back.
