No words are adequate to express the depth of emotion we felt walking into the plaza and seeing the cathedral here in Santiago. I have seen pictures of the cathedral for so many years and never could picture Anthony and me in the foreground. It is hard to comprehend that we travelled 500 miles by our own power to get here. Definitely the most physically challenging accomplishment of my life. Now we are going to get a massage and get our official “Compostela “ for finishing.
We went to the pilgrim Mass tonight and were blessed to be able to see the botafumeiro, the very large incense thurible. It takes multiple men to get it swinging across the nave of the cathedral. It is not often that they do this. What a treat.

It is obvious to Carol and I that we did not complete this pilgrimage of our own accord. We praise God for guiding us and providing the strength and attitude required each day to plan, prepare, bicycle, and walk this pilgrimage. We ask God that our many prayers during this time be effective for all our loved ones and for peace throughout the world.
