OCTOBER 8 – HILLS AND MOUNTAINS TO BERDUCEDO

Wow! Crazy climb today about 3000 feet, Most of the day was steep climbing in fog.  At the top, the trail met an alternative Camino detour called the Hospitales route.  Less steep but we heard the fog was also terrible so those pilgrims could not enjoy the views. The path that we could see was lovely and green.  So many cool mushrooms.  We stopped in this little, mostly abandoned town where the houses all have slate roofs.  After the climb, the fog cleared and we were treated to beautiful mountains. The sun was out when we got to Berducedo and we could hang our clothes outside to dry.  This time of year, restaurant services are very limited and we are blessed that we have accommodation reservations that mostly include dinner.  Tonight we saw pilgrims turned away.
