OCTOBER 5 – 30 MILES LATER FROM OVIEDO TO GRADO AND ON TO SALAS
October 5, 2022 November 10, 2022
Feeling blessed that we didn’t have Wi-Fi yesterday in Grado because I was forced to stop and enjoy the beauty of where we stayed up in the mountains above Grado. I have never seen anything like it. We walked 16 miles to get there and even with a “rest” day our legs were tired.. But what magnificent scenery! Walking allows me to take lots more pictures! We ate a sandwich on a bench in front of a little chapel and much of the day was wooded trails. It almost didn’t seem real.
Today was equally as beautiful. Our assent out of Grado was steep and at the top was a chapel, Nuestra Senora de Fresno. We didn’t see it at first because it was so foggy but then the church bell rang and we realized we were about 50 meters away. Apparently the views from there are spectacular but it was super foggy. Much of today was also wooded and wet. Lunch was in a pretty park. We passed by a little place in the middle of nowhere that had vending machines. Not sure if they worked. Passing through a little town, a resident had grapes and walnuts out on the road and they guy invited us up for coffee. People here are so nice. We haven’t seen very many other pilgrims. The Camino Primitivo is pretty quiet but we like it that way.

Wow! What a blessing! A beautiful part of our planet. Away from all the noise.
With friendly people. I envy you guys. A journey you’ll never forget! Long walk.
Must be satisfying. Pray for me!
That’s a bummer that you didn’t get to enjoy the scenery from the chapel, but the pictures you did get are amazing! And yay for making peaceful memories.

Loving all the pictures of you two! The one of Anthony on the bridge might be my favorite of the bunch!!
