OCTOBER 2- WALK TO OVIEDO

In Villaviciosa the Camino splits. One can continue on the Camino Del Norte along the ocean or, as we did day before yesterday, one can turn south to Oviedo.  Oviedo is the start of the Camino Primitivo and ends in Santiago almost 200 miles later.  The  relatively short walk of 12 miles today from Pola de Siero was beautiful along smaller country roads with very few cars. As we approached Oviedo, we were on bigger roads in a more industrial area.  Oviedo is a big city and it seemed to take forever to get to our hotel.  After the previous 2 days of cycling up hills it seemed like our legs were toast. We enjoyed a few nice stops including a picturesque bridge and some figs straight from a tree we passed by and even discovered a kiwi vine. The cathedral here is beautiful and we were blessed to be able to make it in time for Sunday Mass.We will have 2 days and a much needed rest here in Oviedo.

Not a cell phone tower- a real tree
Cheers!
