SEPTEMBER 27 – SANTILLANA DEL MAR

Known as the “village of 3 lies” since it is neither holy nor flat nor near the sea.  One of the most picturesque towns we have seen. The streets and buildings are all made of stone. Hotel Altamira , where we are staying, was once a palace in the late 17th century. This was a rest day of sorts as it was a short hour ride from our last place. It was a cool, windy, misty morning.  We had to wait to check in since we got here early so we had some coffee and warmed up. Found a cool place for pizza and took a nice nap. Then explored some more. Tricky to walk on wet cobblestone streets.

View out our window. No screens in Spain
Sidra!
11th century Collegiate de Santa Juliana
The patterns in these cobblestone streets…….
