Our bike delivery was delayed until the following morning so we got a late start at 1100. It was a rough day with some rocky steep inclines and we had to walk the bikes. It was only 27 miles but it took us until 8:15 pm to get to our pension. Beautiful views in wine country. We stopped for a quick lunch in Orio and sat on the bench outside a local church. The pension was beautiful, overlooking Deba and the ocean. Fabulous homemade wine, pressed apple juice, home grown tomatoes and homemade bread. I could hardly eat, I was so exhausred.
Today we took a much longer but less steep and rocky route to Gernika- 44 miles vs. 30 miles but so much easier. We actually got here by 4 p.m. and enjoyed the town a little bit. There are so many kids and families! Such a happy vibe. Early to bed for our ride to Bilbao tomorrow.
